Get Certified Your Way!

To stand out as a qualified pole instructor, certification is essential. Just like any recognized sport, earning a reputable certification proves you’ve received proper training, ensuring you can teach safely and effectively. It also gives potential employers confidence in your skills and sets you apart from uncertified instructors.

Why Get Certified with the PFA?

At Pole Fitness Alliance (PFA), we don’t just certify instructors--we create confident, skilled leaders who know how to teach engaging, results-driven pole classes with safety and precision.

As the first-ever pole instructor continuing education and certification course, PFA has been a pioneer in the industry. For 17 years, we’ve been developing, refining, and honing our course materials to ensure that our training remains the gold standard in pole fitness education. Our years of experience mean you’re learning from the best, with a curriculum built on proven techniques and industry-leading knowledge.

Unlike programs that churn out certifications with little oversight, we take a personalized, hands-on approach to ensure every instructor is truly ready to lead--not just on paper, but in practice.

Can I earn Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for my fitness certification?

Yes! The PFA Level 1 course is approved for Continuing Education Credits (CECs) with ACE, NASM, and AFAA. Upon completing either the Level 1 CEC Course or the full Level 1 Certification, you will receive a digital certificate containing the course numbers needed for your fitness certification renewal.

📌 CEUs Earned:

✔ ACE – 1.4 CEUs

✔ NASM – 1.5 CEUs

✔ AFAA – 15 CEUs

💡 If you are only looking for CECs (not full certification), you can choose the “Materials Only” option. This includes access to the CEC written exam, which is different from the certification written exam. This is a great option for fitness professionals who want to expand their knowledge and maintain their credentials without pursuing full certification.

Can I purchase just the study materials without certification?

Yes! If you’re not ready for certification but want to learn, you can purchase just the study materials to gain continuing education credits (CECs) or for personal study. You’ll receive:

✔️ Online course materials

✔️ Written Exam for CEC Credit with ACE, NASM, and AFAA (this is NOT the certification exam)

You can upgrade to a full certification later by paying the applicable upgrade fee for your chosen certification package.

Click here to purchase the CEC/Study Materials Only option.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! We understand that investing in your certification is a big step, so we offer a payment plan option that breaks your payment down into 3 monthly payments for the Stainless and Brass packages to make it more accessible. We also accept Affirm, Klarna and Afterpay which offer more substantial payment plan options.

💳 How the Payment Plan Works:

✔ First payment is processed at checkout.

✔ Second payment is processed one month from checkout.

✔ Final payment is processed two months from checkout.

📌 Important:

• If you choose the Stainless package, you will not be able to select a Master Trainer until your final payment has been processed.

• If you choose the Brass package, you will not be able to begin the live or virtual course until your final payment has been processed.

If you have any questions about payment plans, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help! 😊

Do I need prior teaching experience or advanced pole skills to enroll?

You do not need prior teaching experience, but you must be able to perform the foundational moves covered in the course. Since this certification teaches how to teach, it does not provide instruction on how to execute the moves themselves.

💡 We recommend at least 6 months of pole experience before enrolling. If you’re unsure whether you’re ready, or if you need to learn the required moves, you can enroll in our PFA Premium Membership.

👉 PFA Premium Membership includes:

✔️ A pre-certification course that teaches all the moves you need to know

✔️ A video submission assessment to determine if you’re ready for certification

If you need additional preparation, this option will ensure you have the necessary skills before starting your instructor training.

Is the course online or in-person?

• Chrome and Stainless are 100% online and self-paced.

• Brass includes 8–10 hours of live training, either in person or over Zoom.

How long will I have access to the course materials?

Once you purchase any certification package, you will have lifetime access to the course materials, including any updates we make. Your access will only be removed if:

1️⃣ You choose to delete your PFA account, or

2️⃣ We make significant modifications to the course, in which case we will notify you in advance.

This means you can always revisit the content whenever you need to refresh your knowledge or refine your teaching skills!

How long do I have to complete the certification?

Chrome: You have 12 months from purchase to complete your exams.

• Stainless: You have 6 months of trainer access once you select your trainer, but you can study the materials for up to eighteen months before choosing your trainer.

• Brass: Live training is scheduled within a structured timeframe, and exams are completed during the live training.

What are the requirements to pass the Level 1 Certification?

To earn your PFA Level 1 Certification, you must successfully complete the following:

✅ Teach a warm-up and cool-down

✅ Demonstrate basic spins and holds with proper technique on both the left and right sides of the body

✅ Assess class situations and effectively address them

✅ Create and teach simple choreography, cueing movements to music

✅ Teach a basic climb progression

✅ Teach a 3-4 move combination that includes at least one spin

✅ Achieve a minimum score of 70% on the written exam

These requirements ensure that certified instructors have the skills, knowledge, and confidence to teach beginner-level pole classes safely and effectively.

How does the exam process work?

There are two exams:

1️⃣ Multiple Choice Written Exam – Covers theory, safety, technique, and teaching methodology.

• Chrome: 2 attempts

• Stainless & Brass: 4 attempts

2️⃣ Practical Exam – Demonstrates your ability to instruct and cue movements.

• Chrome: 2 attempts done via video submission (feedback provided after the first)

• Stainless: Practical is broken into multiple assignments submitted over time with unlimited feedback within 6 months.

• Brass: Practical requirements are completed live during training. If unable to complete all of the physical requirements during the training, video submissions may be made to your Master Trainer within 6 months of the training date.

What if I don’t pass the practical exam on the first try?

No worries! You’ll receive detailed feedback and will have additional attempts based on your package. If you need further assistance, our trainers are here to help.

Is the certification recognized internationally?

Yes! The PFA Certification is internationally recognized and respected in the pole industry. Many studios prefer or require PFA-certified instructors because of our comprehensive training in safe and effective teaching methods.

What if I have questions during the course?

We offer multiple support options:

✔️ Live Q&A Zoom meetups for all certification levels

✔️ Master Trainer guidance (included in Stainless & Brass)

✔️ Study groups on Zoom (included in Stainless & Brass)

Can I upgrade my certification later?

Yes! You can upgrade your certification at any time by paying the applicable upgrade fee:

📌 Upgrade Fees:

✔ "Materials Only" upgrade to Chrome Certification – $150

"Materials Only" or Chrome Upgrade to Stainless Certification – $250

✔ "Materials Only" or Chrome Upgrade to Brass Certification – $450
